Directions for Printing Transparencies:
To print to Transparencies Manual Feed (Preferred):
- Put your transparencies in the Manual Feed tray.
- When you hit print, choose the PAS-Tek-850DP printer as your printer.
- Choose "Manual Feed Tranarencies" as your paper source.
If you want to use the Media Tray to print transparencies:
- Put your transparencies in the tray.
- Switch the "Paper Select" switch on the tray to
"Transparency."
This is a blue sliding switch on the right side of the tray,
you may have to take the tray out to see it.
- Choose "Transparency" as your paper source.
** It's important to choose one of the transparency options.
That way, if someone else tries to print the job, and they
don't choose transparencies, there is a better chance they won't
print on your transparencies. But it can sometimes still happen.
Supplies for the Tektronix 850DP Printer:
The transparencies that System Administrator orders are the
"Phaser 840/850 Standard Transparency Film,"
which she buys in boxes of 50, for ~$40/box from:
Tierney Brothers
612-331-5500
3300 University Ave
The transparencies, since they're so expensive, are kept locked up.
Please ask System Administrator in advance for them if you want to print during
non-business hours.
If you want to purchase your own transparencies, that is fine.
Tierney Brothers is happy to sell to anyone.
You can also run high-temperature laser printer or copier
transparencies through the printer. This won't harm the printer.
But what is unclear is how well the ink (which is a wax-based ink,
instead of toner based) will stick to those transparencies.
