A
vertical break, called a joint, in the Platteville Formation. The Platteville
contains numerous joints. When the rock breaks loose along a joint, it can create
smooth surfaces similar to those seen here. This point is as far as the tour
groups should move along the river. Up ahead as some Platteville blocks that
are ready to fall down across the trail, so do not follow the following trail
of photographs in person!
