How to Scan Images

Step 1:

Start VistaScan Software by double clicking on the "Umax VistaScan 3.5.2" icon in the applications menu. The following window will appear.

Step 2:

When the application starts, change the program to "Advanced mode" by clicking on the button that says "Advanced"

This indicates you are in beginner mode:

This indicates you are in advanced mode:

Step 3:

Make your desired selections in the Vista Scan software.

Step 4:

Next you must specify what type of file you desire to save your picture as. You must also choose where you want to save the file, or to which application you would like to send the image.
To do this, click this icon in the upper right hand corner of the Vista Scan window.

Step 5:

The preferences window will open.

Step 6:

Click on the "Scan Destination" tab.

Step 7:

The Scan destination window will be displayed.

From this window, click on the file format window

and select your desired file type. You should select "JPEG" This is one of the most commonly used picture formats and works for most applications.

Step 8:

If you would like to save the image directly as a file, click on the file icon, set your desired file type, and then click on the "Settings" button.

This will give you a dialog that allows you to set where you want to save your file, and what you want to call it.

If you are scanning multiple images, you can set the name to be: something_1, and the scanning software will automatically incrememt the _1 to _2, and so forth.

Step 9:

Then click the "OK" button on the bottom of the preferences window.

Step 10:

Click the "Preview" button to do a quick scan and view your image layout, or click "Scan" to scan the image now.
