Solid Earth Geophysics Visiting Professor
Visiting Professor/Geophysics The University of Minnesota Department of Geology and Geophysics seeks an established geophysicist with a superior record of achievements for a one- or two-semester visiting appointment during the 2001-2002 academic year. The successful applicant is expected to strongly interact with one or more of the existing research groups in regional tectonics, crustal geophysics, mantle mineral properties including rheology, computational geodynamics, and origin and variability of the geomagnetic field. Teaching responsibility is limited to shared teaching of a senior/beginning graduate level semester course in solid earth geophysics and, if interested, in a graduate level seminar of the applicant's choice.
The position is aimed broadly at accomplished geophysicists from academia and research institutions, who enjoy co-operative research in a variety of problems ranging from the earth's core to the crust. Salary is open and commensurable with scholarly record and experience.
