High Pressure Earth Materials Research Associate/Research Fellow at the University of Minnesota

We seek a research scientist/lab manager experienced with operation of a multi-anvil apparatus to conduct research and maintain a Walker-style multi-anvil in the UMN high pressure earth materials facility. Expectations will include partial responsibility for calibration of the multi-anvil, supervision of the multi-anvil lab, and independent research in an area of high pressure physics or chemistry of Earth materials that is complementary to existing research programs at UMN. In addition to a 1000 ton press with both octahedral and cubic anvil devices, supporting facilities include piston cylinders, gas media deformation apparatuses, one-atmosphere gas mixing furnaces, EPMA, LA-ICP-MS, FTIR, SEM, TEM, and XRD. A graduate degree in earth or materials science is required for this position. Annually renewable appointment with current funding for three years.
