Microprobe Research Scientist

Applications are being
accepted for the position of either Research Associate (Ph.D. non-tenure track)
or Research Fellow (M.S.) in the Dept. of Geology & Geophysics. Responsibilities will include
operation, supervision and routine maintenance of a 5-spectrometer JEOL 8900
electron microprobe. Experience
maintaining a microprobe is desirable, but some amount of on-the-job training is
expected. The successful applicant
will also be expected to provide user training, including teaching a course in
microprobe theory and applications, and to consult/collaborate with University
personnel on research projects.
Additionally, the UMN microprobe lab receives a significant portion of
its resources from industrial sources, and the position requires sustaining and
providing support for a moderate load of industrial users.
A Ph.D.
or M.S. degree in Earth Science or related field is required. Send letter of application, CV, and a
