In the summer of 2006, 11 interns spent 9-11 weeks in the Department of Geology and Geophysics. The research projects were supplemented by optional field trips within Minnesota and Wisconsin: Duluth Complex/North Shore of Lake Superior; Sudan Mine on the Iron Range; structural geology at Baraboo, Wisc; fossil hunting and mid-continent rift basalts on the St. Croix River; and a trip to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area initiated by these enthusiastic interns!
