In the summer of 2007, 17 interns (one sponsored by NASA) spent 5-10 weeks in the Department of Geology and Geophysics. The research projects were supplemented by optional field trips including a day on Lake Superior aboard the Blue Heron Research Vessel; a tour of the Soudan Mine and Underground Research Site on the Iron Range; and to see ancient metamorphic and igneous rocks at Eau Claire, WI. (field trip and other photos).
