Summer 2002

Seated from L to R: Marshall Sundberg, Yoshi Kaneko, Lincoln Weller, Lisa Sills, Aimee Wendt, Jessica Oster.
Standing from L to R: Kathy Bailey, Kristina Gross, Jayson Couillard, Sean Bryan, Jo Belvedere, Neil Kelley.
Missing from this photo are Susan Powell, Brendon Stanton, and NASA intern John Keefner.

In the summer of 2002, 14 interns spent 6-10 weeks in the Department of Geology and Geophysics.  The research projects were supplemented by optional
field trips to see the sedimentology and stratigraphy of the St. Croix River Valley; the caves in SW Wisconsin; Lake Superior (cruise on the Blue Heron
research vessel); the famous Duluth gabbro and North Shore volcanics along the scenic shore of Lake Superior (part of the Proterozoic mid-continent rift
system); and a new field trip this year to the Minnesota Iron Range.  Click here to see photos from some of the field trips.

Again this year, the interns presented posters of their research at the end of the program.  If you care to see photos of this poster session, click here.
