Application for Graduate Studies and Financial Aid in Geology and/or Geophysics

The Department of Geology and Geophysics awards and administers graduate assistantships. The Graduate School offers a limited number of Graduate School Fellowships (which provide a full stipend plus tuition for one academic year). These are awarded in a single University-wide annual competition for which nominations by the Department of Geology and Geophysics are required in late January for the coming academic year. The Department forwards the nominations to the Graduate School based on the applicants' files; there is not a separate form for the applicant to submit.

An official transcript from each college or university you have attended, including one for any courses taken at the University of Minnesota (send via postal mail). Statement on your career objectives, teaching/research experience, research interests, & publications (can be included in the spaces provided on this form, sent via postal mail, or via ApplyYourself). Graduate Record Examination Scores (GRE) (official copy- send via postal mail). Photocopy of TOEFL Score (non-native-English Speaking students only) Three letters of recommendation, which can be submitted through the online ApplyYourself system -OR- sent via postal mail (on official letterhead) to the address below.
