During the REU this summer, I presented a paper with Dr Yuen at the Third MIT Conference on Computational Fluid and Solid Mechanics. I also co-authored a paper on rotating rigid bodies in the upper mantle wedge. In this paper, we explored various rigid-body phenomena present in data from our high-resolution 2D subduction simulation and came up with links between our predicted seismic anomalies and observed anomalies in various subduction zones. Lastly, I continued work on a web-based visualization system for high-resolution 2D datasets and will be presenting this work at the IEEE Visualization conference this fall.
