Step-by-step Application Procedures for Graduate Studies

Application deadline for Fall admittance is JANUARY 8 of the same year.

Please note that it is necessary to send applications and supporting materials to BOTH the Graduate School AND the Department of Geology and Geophysics.

• Try to have an idea of what area(s) of study and research you wish to conduct, and possibly with which faculty member(s) you would like to work. These links will be helpful:

• Contact individual faculty members/potential advisors to discuss research possibilities.
• Submit online applications to BOTH the Department and the Graduate School.
• Assure all supporting materials for BOTH applications are received in the respective offices by JANUARY 8 (see Application Materials Checklists).
• Follow-up with the Department office to assure all materials have been received, as review of applications will commence the week of JANUARY 8. Email Sharon at kress004@umn.edu.
