I worked with Justin Revenaugh using multiple-ScS phases to image the sub-continental lithosphere under Tien Shan (near Tibet). The area makes the study difficult because of the thick, heterogeneous crust. However, with the data that was obtained, we found a variety of results. We found many of the mantle transition zone discontinuities that have been suggested and documented in other parts of the world. In addition though, we found evidence for delaminated/detached lithosphere under a particular region of Tien Shan. This has been seen and suggested by other scientists doing research on this area using different methods.
