How to Apply to Hydrocamp 2008

Important: There are 2 different sign-up procedures, one for University of Minnesota (UMN) students (column 1) and one for all other students (column 2):

Column 1
University of Minnesota (UMN) students from any UMN campus and any UMN department follow this column. You need to sign up three times as indicated below.
First sign up:
Week 1: Jan. 22-25: Sign up in the main office indicating that you want to take one of our two advanced field camps (Advanced Field Methods -or- Hydrocamp) during summer 2008. Then make sure you sign up in the main office during your applicable week as indicated below.
Second sign up:
Week 2: Jan. 28-Feb. 1 Seniors can sign up. Also students who completed, or are currently taking, a field-camp-related course (e.g., hydrogeology for applying to Hydrocamp) can sign up. Check with an advanced field camp organizer to see if the course you are taking (or have taken) qualifies as a reason for signing up during week 2 as a non-senior.
Week 3: Feb. 4-8 Juniors can sign up + those allowed during week 2.
Week 4: Feb 11-15 Sophomores can sign up + those allowed during weeks 2 and 3.
Third sign up:
Week 5: Feb. 18-22: Upon notification to which advanced field camp you have been accepted you can now enroll to that field camp by following its application/enrollment instructions. In case of Hydrocamp follow the instructions below this table.
Column 2
All other students from U.S. and foreign universities follow this column
Follow the application instructions shown below this table (i.e., fill out the application form and write out a $250 deposit check made out to the "University of Minnesota") and send the form and the check to the address indicated on the application form as soon as possible and by March 1, 2008, at the latest.

Besides qualifications, arrival of applications (and earlier letters of intent to apply) will be another criterium for acceptance of non-UMN students.

If you have sent a letter of intent to apply, you must still submit a formal application (with deposit check) as indicated below.

If you have not sent in a letter of intent to apply so far, you should not write a letter of intend to apply anymore but instead simply apply as indicated below.

Important: First follow the instructions in the column above that applies to you.

Then complete and submit the application form (downloadable using the link below) along with a $250 deposit check (made out to the "University of Minnesota") as described on the form. Hydrocamp 2008 application due date for non-UMN students is March 1, 2008, and for UMN students application due dates are shown in column 1.

After an application is accepted (after February 22, 2008, for UMN students and after March 1, 2008, for all other students) the deposit becomes non-refundable if you are unable to attend the camp. If your application is not accepted or you withdraw before February, 22 (for UMN students) or before March 1 (for non-UMN students) your deposit will be returned (i.e., your check will be voided).
