Abstracts
- Abstracts for presentations are to be submitted through CCE’s on-line Abstract Collector. Fill in the author information as requested on the Abstract Collector website, but DO NOT USE the generic abstract template available from the site.
- Preparing the abstract. Authors are requested to use the template (supplied as a MS Word Template) that can be downloaded from here by clicking on the word template. If you do not use MS Word, or your browser or operating system has problems downloading a MS Word template, please click here for a template supplied in Rich Text Format. If you are using Safari on a Mac, it may be necessary to hold down the Control button while clicking on the download link. If you are using Linux, we assume you know your way round. The template should be self-explanatory (we hope), but specific instructions are listed below:
- The abstract, including the title, authors, and affiliations must fit within one letter size page with predetermined margins. The total useable space is 16.5 cm wide and 22.5 cm tall.
- All entries are to be left-justified.
- Title should be in Times New Roman, 14 point Bold font. Only the first word is capitalized.
- Authors’ names are entered in Times New Roman 12 point font. Use a numerical superscript after the name to point to the correct entry on the address line. The presenter should be marked with an asterisk.
- Addresses are entered in Times New Roman 10 point italic font. Each address starts with a superscript numeral to correspond with the correct author name. The last entry for the address list is the email address of the presenter inside a pair of parentheses (round brackets).
- The abstract text. Use Times New Roman 12 point font. The first line of each paragraph is indented by 5mm and is separated from the paragraph above by 6 points.
- Figures and tables should be pasted into the Word document.
- References may be included.
- If your abstract is produced on a Mac, and you used any special fonts (e.g., Symbol) or pasted in a graph, you may want to convert the document to a PDF file before uploading.
- How to upload the abstract. A portion of the Abstract Collector page looks something like the box below. Anything marked with a red asterisk is a required field or action. Instructions on choosing appropriate Topic Area is next on this list. Click on the Abstract Template button on the submission page (this is a required action). This action will download onto your computer the generic template (MS Word document file) we asked you NOT to use. We suggest you choose the “Save to Disk” option and throw it away. We hope this action does not cause problems for some. Then follow the instruction (item #3) on how to upload your abstract.
- Submitting your abstract to a specific topic area. You may specify a topic area for your abstract from the pull-down menu in the Abstract Collector. The choice of topic areas are:
- Oral or Poster? In order to provide the conference organizers with maximum flexibility in accommodating all submitted abstracts, there are only two choices to choose from: Either, or Poster only. These choices can be found on the submission page under “presentation methods”
- Those presenting abstracts must register by April 1, 2006 to be included in the program.
- There is a limit of one presentation per participant. This will allow us to accommodate all submitted abstracts either as an oral or as a poster presentation.
- The deadline for abstract submission is April 1, 2006.
