Research Interests

    My research interests have developed around diatoms, a group of microscopic algae. I use diatoms to pursue these research areas:

  1. Historical environmental change—paleolimnology, climate change, anthropogenic impacts;
  2. Use of sediment records for biomonitoring;
  3. Biodiversity in ancient lakes and landscapes; and
  4. Life history strategies.
