Application Procedures for Graduate Studies

Application deadline for Fall admittance is JANUARY 8 of the same year.

Important changes:

  • Use this list in conjunction with the Graduate Admissions Office Application Instructions found here.
  • The Graduate Admissions Office no longer accepts paper application materials, therefore everything they require should be uploaded through the ApplyYourself System.
  • Any supplementary materials required by the department can and should be uploaded through the ApplyYourself system, but please note that the department will not be able to see these materials until after you have officially submitted your application.

Transcripts

  • Legible copies of official transcripts can and should be uploaded through the ApplyYourself system, in the Educational Background section.
    • Notes: The Department reserves the right to ask for more official trancripts if the uploaded copies are illegible.
    • Students who are offered admission will be required to submit official transcripts to the Graduate Admissions Office.

GRE Scores

  • Electronic upload through ETS (institution code is 6874)
    • Note: sometimes it takes two or more weeks for official scores to show in ApplyYourself, therefore you may be asked to email a legible, scanned copy to <kress004@umn.edu>

Statement of Purpose

Statement #2 - Diversity - is not required, however if you feel you can contribute to the diversity of the university's graduate student body, please submit a statement here.

Three (3) Letters of Recommendation
