Lick Observatory on Mt. Hamilton in California.
Similar to Yerkes' astronomical philantropy, James Lick donated
the money for the building of Lick Observatory and its telescop
located on Mt. Hamilton in California. His body was interred in
one of the piers that supports the observatorys largest telescope.

The dedication dinner was a high-class event and the six-course
meal included filet of black bass in cucumbers, beef tenderloin,
breast of partridge, champagne, cognac and cigars.
