A habitat diorama is a three dimensional natural history exhibit that typically contains mounted animals arranged with plants and other animals that imitate the animals’ natural surroundings. In the most sophisticated dioramas, the preserved plants and animals in the foreground merge seamlessly with the background mural to create the illusion of infinite space within the glass walls of the museum display.
